I spoke too soon. Josh emailed me our finished image this morning. This really captures our family in so many ways. Thank you Josh Rossi!!

I feel like life lately has been the calm before the storm, and it’s been soooo nice. We just returned from a relaxing family vacation but this is my last week before crazy happens. Between May 22-June 22 I have seven weddings and a handful of blacktie sessions. I realize many photographers keep just such a pace on a routine basis. But there’s no way I could entertain such a schedule, plus take care of my family, and not lose my mind. But can I be crazy for one month a year? Sure. Why not? The reward at the end of the month? Prince Edward Island, Canada. A big girls getaway. Just me, myself & I, plus a few friends. My little girls get to play at grandma’s. Jordan will be working his life away to get a paper published. Do I feel a little guilty? Maybe. But only a little.

In the mean time, I’m looking forward to wedding cake, glowing bride & grooms, and beautiful spring weather to shoot in. So excited!

I’m still waiting for the final composite image from this session with Josh Rossi, but in the meantime, I thought I’d share a taste of what went down at our recent 1950′s themed family picture.

And my attempt at being a moon photographer the other night when the moon was bigger than ever. I started by just shooting the moon and realized that was quite boring. So I used some OCF to add a little interest by lighting leaves and a tree in my yard. I’ll probably stick to weddings, but it was fun to play around with an object so far away.

I’ve photographed Lydia before at both of her sister’s weddings and as a model, but this was the first time I got to do a shoot just for her! She has such a beautiful, soft serene expression I’m always forgetting to ask for her smile, which is of course equally stunning. Either expression I can’t go wrong. She’s graduating from high school in the next few weeks and I can’t wait to see where her life takes her!

When Jessica first emailed me about her wedding day, I was booked. BUT that didn’t stop us from having fun together the best way I know how… with a blacktie session of course! It’s like all the fun of the wedding day, minus all of the not fun. Jessica wanted to capture Josh seeing her for the first time. So I met up with Josh to begin and we both excitedly waited for his bride to be. She was worth the wait!

I posted a few images from this session last night on facebook after I got home from shooting. And I was about to blog those images today, then decided, why not just put up the whole thing? That’s way better right!?

I don’t shoot senior pictures too often, but I’m always happy to when I have the chance, especially if it’s for my own brother! I can’t believe how grown up he is. Daniel will start at the U of U summer semester in just a few weeks. His cute best friend Kapri is headed to BYU. I can’t define their relationship for you, other than to say they’re going to miss each other terribly. Once upon a time I was going to take pictures of these two for Junior Prom. Then Kapri’s dress never came and time passed and it never really happened. So I thought we’d give it a go around before it was too late. Mostly these are just individual senior portraits of them, but we grabbed a few of them together as well. You can see more from their session on my facebook page HERE. They’re both graduating as Valedictorians of Bear River High Class of 2012. So fun!! Congrats on a job well done you two. I can’t wait to see how college treats you.

I captured these with my new Nikon D800 and three lenses, primarily my 70-200 f/2.8, plus a 105 f/2.8 for the macro shots and a 14-24 f/4 for the wide shots. I was almost giddy while shooting, both about my new equipment (which unfortunately weighs more than I do, that’s my only complaint) and of course, the GORGEOUS flowers! I ordered three 40×60 canvases for a steal of a deal the other day and may only need two of them. So if you’re interested and have some wall space to fill, shoot me an email. I’d love to sell you a canvas with one of these beauties printed on it at my cost (the price I got them on sale for). I’m just dying to see one of these big and gorgeous and in someone’s home, not just on my hard drive

I’m back with part two of Peter & Chandel’s engagement session. We definitely did not get rained out the second time around and oh what a beautiful day it was! We didn’t plan to shoot at temple square, rather we were going to stroll through the city. But when we came across the tulips in full bloom, I couldn’t pull myself away. But I don’t think anyone will complain. In fact I loved the tulips so much, I returned a few days later to capture them all by themselves. I’ll be sharing those pictures later this week! But for now, enjoy the lovely Chandel & Peter out and about and in love.
