So technically we shot these last year, but just barely. And I wanted to start the new year with a bang, so I saved them a few days I’m thinking 2012 is going to be simply gorgeous. Don’t you agree? Introducing Sam & Brittney. Who’s excited to see these two all done up for a wedding? ME! But first, their stunning engagement session. We shot a little longer than normal, but every time we turned the corner another location beckoned to us…so I hope you’re ready for a long post. Welcome to the new year!

I’m thrilled to annouce the launch of my new 2012 wedding website. As usual, it’s full of pretty pictures…but this year, I really wanted the website to go beyond a portfolio, into something that will better serve my future brides as they make the all important decision of their wedding photographer! SO, as you’ll be reminded of on the website, make sure you don’t forget to read the words too. Wedding photography is about more than just the pictures.

Some of my past brides chipped in, participating in a little survey/interview about their experience and thoughts on working with me. It’s one thing to see the pictures a photographer has taken, but I think it’s even better to hear what it’s actually like, from a bride’s perspective, to make those pictures. And I know brides get more advice than they can possibly remember, but I really wanted to share the advice I always find on the tip of my tongue when it comes to getting married. So you’ll find my personal words of wisdom under the Advice tab. I’ve also included a fun little section called Kind Words, where I share some of my all time favorite blog comments. Maybe you were the author of one!

Their is, of course, also a section on my 2012 wedding collection pricing. However, I’ve opted to title it “Investment” because as you’ll hear from my brides, that’s what it truly is. Finding the right wedding photographer should be SO much more than price shopping. Yes, budgets are a reality. But creative budgeting IS possible if you know your priorities as a bride & couple, and invest accordingly.

New for this year, all of my wedding collections now include an album, not just a credit. I’ll be introducing two new lines of albums in December/January: Keepsake & Heiloom albums. The keepsake albums are perfect for the DIY bride, who wants a high quality product, but would rather invest some of her own time and resources to keep costs down. The heirloom albums are my pride and joy, and a little piece of me will go into each one. These albums are stress free, and require little from the bride, other than someone to cherish them forever. You’ll no longer have to worry about what images go into them, or how many pages you’ll need. My brides will simply choose the style and cover leathers they’d like, and then presto, a gorgeous, timeless piece of art will be there’s to have and to hold for many generations to come.

As soon as my 2012 album samples arrive & I’m able to properly photograph them, I’ll be adding an additional section on the website to showcase these beautiful pieces of art! It will also include some of my favorite album designs to give you a taste of the insides as well.

Finally, I’m happy to annouce that this year’s website should be more accessible than ever. The entire website is in html format, so no flash player is required. I’ve also added a condensed, mobile version of my website for those accessing it on an iphone/ipod. So even when you’re on the go, I hope you’ll take the time to share my work and your beautiful pictures with friends and strangers you meet

Jordan and I spent this past weekend in New York for Katie & Praneeth’s wedding. Friday we met up with this lovely couple at the Cedarmere Museum which overlooks Roslyn Harbor. I loved the rustic feel the property had. It reminded me of all my favorite locations I left behind when we moved from New Haven. Utah just doesn’t do “old” the same way the East Coast does. Utah also doesn’t do traffic the same either, but for that I am SO grateful I can’t wait to share Katie & Praneeth’s gorgeous wedding day with you, but first, I thought we should all get acquainted. Hope these images do the trick!

Candice & Thomas were all giggles and smiles while shooting. What more could I ask for? Maybe killer green eyes and drop dead gorgeous red hair? Check. A GROOM who thinks about what props to bring. Check. Love, love these two. And I SO can’t wait to see them in wedding attire. I think Candice in a bridal gown just may rock my world. We shot these engagements last week, a few days after my lighting workshop. And so they (along with my awesome assistant Laurie) were patient with me while I tried out some new lighting setups. All of the images in their first outfit were shot with natural light. The majority of the second outfit images had some sort of off camera lighting assist in them. I’m loving the doors new lighting skills have opened. And I have some new equipment on it’s way, which will hopefully open even a few more. Thanks again your two for your patience and happy smiles. This summer these two got engaged & eloped to the California beach all in one weekend. And while they were willing to leave all the pomp and circumstance of a typical wedding behind, I wasn’t… You’ve got to have pictures right!?! So we went for an engagement/elopement blacktie-ish looking session up in the mountains. Some of the last ones are golden like the beach so it’s sort of the same

Jenn & Jesse’s wedding provided me with my first trip to Lake Tahoe, and I can definitely say it didn’t disappoint. What gorgeous scenery surrounded us. We shot these the night before their wedding and simply wanted the pictures to reflect the fun loving relationship that these two have, minus all that formal wedding day stuff!

A few weeks ago I found myself just outside of Gunlock State Park viewing some amazing waterfalls in the distance. I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be cool to shoot the days engagements by those. Little did I know that was the plan. So into the jeep we piled, climbing rocks I didn’t know were possible. I always know if I have to 4-wheel to get there it’s going to be good. And it was. So glad our St. George trips coordinated Shelbe & Marc. What fun and unique engagements you now have! Can’t wait for round two
